Simple Drilling Coal

Simple way of DRILLING COAL (Basic)

In the drilling of coal, done in 2 ways, namely:
1 Open hole and
2 Core Drilling
Open Hole, drilling is carried out with the aim to make a hole into the soil or rock layers, up to a certain depth and useful as a determinant of the achievement level of the coal seam prior to coring or core sampling of the coal.
Wellsite geologist or a task, notes particle or material that is pushed toward the surface with water.

Notice in the picture above. The drill has eroded surface of the coal seam. Scouring powder form will be pushed by the water that is sprayed onto the surface. This stage is carried out checks on samples. Once you are sure, then do the replacement drill bit with the core barrel which aims to cut the layers in accordance with the length of the pipe core barell itself. Furthermore: Core Drilling or Coring is also called, is done to get the gist of drilling. This stage aims to capture the essence of the coal into the core barrel in accordance with the core pieces of the pipe barrel.
After the pipe core barrel through the layer of coal, removal of the entire pipe, then the pipe splitter (cutter) which are in the core barrel is issued. At this stage of coal thickness measurements obtained were measured using a meter.
The data obtained from the drilling results from the open hole do as follows:
1 Mud cutting from each of the different rock layers will be different colors and powder material;
2 Observe the change of color of the water or the sample during drilling, you calculate the depth of which depends the incoming pipe length, so you will get the thickness of the layer, in accordance with the length of the inlet pipe and the color changes of samples (water).

In general drilling in soil and claystone layers only using open hole, in order to save costs, which is where the real goal is to get a layer of coal. But that does not mean the measurement of the thickness of the soil layer and layer other than coal are not important, because it will be related to the calculation of the volume of over burden (OB) and Stripping Ratio (SR).

Why OB should be calculated?
In the further activities of coal production, you do not just immediately scrape the top layer to get a continuous coal seam thickness and volume without counting the OB, because a successful coal mining when the OB volume was relatively thin.

It can be concluded OB volume is directly proportional to the operational cost of stripping and removal of OB. So the higher the OB volume, the greater the costs. However, directly perpendicular to the thickness of the coal seam which is called by Stripping Ratio. If the layer of coal: overburden = 1 meter: 4 meters, considered SR 4.   If you want to know a simple way to calculate the OB, please click here

Simple map of drilling coal

HOW TO MAKE A LOCATION MAP DRILLING

Map drilling plan was created as a reference in the implementation of on-site drilling systematically in order to achieve maximum results, effective and efficient. Contents include the direction of the wind maps, boundaries and areas, lines plan, the interval point of drilling, the drill point code and the number of points the drilling plan.
sampledrillingmaptofiyogiblog
Shown in the example image above, you can start drilling in accordance with what you think is easy to do in advance, either horizontally West to East on a line or on-line South to North.Points A, B, C and D are examples only points code already in the drill plan that are within 1 East-West line, then will move on to the next plan point located on the line of its North. After drilling plan map has been prepared, on-site implementation can begin by conducting topographic surveys and drilling of small-scale coal.

Permitting coal mine in Indonesia

Permitting coal mine

Definition of Mining:
Most or all stages of the research framework, management and exploitation of mineral or coal which includes general investigation, exploration, feasibility studies, construction, mining, processing and refining, transportation and sales, as well as post-mining activities
In Indonesia there are potential areas of coal, including Sumatra, Kalimantan, Ambon, Sulawesi and Papua.
Function is generally used as a coal power plant fuel, fuel in metallurgical industry, animal feed industry fuels are generally in the form of brickets even some that use it as fuel for heating water bath steam room.

Permitting

Each state has regulations about licensing of each coal mining. In Indonesia, regulations and permits the Mining Permit term known as:
·          IUP Exploration Permit, covering general investigation, drilling to collect data and feasibility studies;
·          Special Exploration Permit IUPK whose activities are in particular   regions;
·          WIUP mining permit is territory that has been given to potential investors while WIUPK is an area reserved for those who are given IUPK;
·          IUPK given for implementing production activities in the area of special mining license (WIUPK) such as:
ü  IUPK Freight Operations Production and Sales.
     This permission is specifically given to the company that would make the purchase, transportation and sale of mineral commodities or coal.
ü  Production Operation Mining Business Permit for processing and or purification.
     This license specifically for processing and refining or given to the company for the purchase, transport, process, and purify including selling coal mineral commodities or processed products.

Keep in mind, in addition to the above mentioned licenses (IUP), the government also gave permission to the following types:

Coal Mining Agreement /Perjanjian Karya Pengusahaan Pertambangan Batubara (PKP2B) is published on the license agreement between the Government of the Republic of

Stage Marketing, which need to be considered, as follows:
Documents with the buyer that contains:
1. The purpose of sending / recipient company goals;
2. port of loading;
3. Date and unloading;
4. Specifications for minerals and coal is equipped with a tonnage         certificate (certificate of weight) as well as samples and analysis       certificate (Certificate of Sampling and Analysis) of the surveyor
    appointed by the Minister or the relevant agencies;
5. List of cargo ship (bill of lading / cargo manifest);
6. Invoice mineral sales made:
    • In Free on Board on transport vessels (vessel);
    • In Free on Board on a barge (barge);
    • As of the end users in the country; or Cost Insurance Freight or        Cost and Freight, in accordance with the provisions of laws and       regulations.
7. Invoices coal sales made:
    • In Free on Board on transport vessels;
    • In Free on Board on a barge (barge);
    • In one of the island up to the end user; or Cost Insurance                  Freight or Cost and Freight, in accordance with the provisions          of laws and regulations;
    • Letter of notification of export of goods (PEB) when will be             sold abroad.

Exploration & Explotation of Coal

Indonesia is one of the few countries that have reserves of natural resources such as petroleum fuels, gas and coal. In this article we intend to show one of the technical journey in the exploration and exploitation of coal. Specifically aimed at those who are new, students and prospective investors are interested to invest in coal mines

Here we present in this blog, the video of the exploration and exploitation drilling (open pit).
